I can’t believe we are in July already and I have been in this amazing role for 6 month now. They say time flies when we are having fun, well for me time is moving at light speed. In such a short time I have met fantastic volunteers in great groups and sections, attended inspirational events like Awards, Squirrels birthday celebration and Cubboree. We have also started to make progress with Improving Volunteer Experience with Permit taster days and plans for future events and programmes. Not forgetting the launch of our New national strategy – Place to Belong – and the new Explorer programme.
Feedback from you is very important, it helps shape what we need to do to support you as volunteers to deliver an amazing programme for our young people. I am getting out and about as much as I can – keep the invites to camps, events, presentations, celebrations coming, it is important to me that in the role of County Lead Volunteer I do not become distanced from Scouting where it really makes a difference, in Districts, Groups and Sections. There will be times when we need a wider reach, so we will be making use of MS forms to get feedback from you, when these requests for feedback land, please take the time to participate.
For many of us we are approaching the summer break, but I know that in lots of cases it is not a break at all – summer camps at home and abroad are planned by groups, as well as other events for our Young People. Please try and take some time for yourselves.
Thank you for all that you do
