Hundreds of young people came together at Moor House Adventure Centre for a weekend of adventure, friendship and celebration as Durham Scouts marked 110 years of Cub Scouting with a very special Birthday Cubboree.
From 3–5 July 2026, Cubs from across County Durham descended on Moor House for three action-packed days celebrating everything that makes Cub Scouting special.
With 2026 marking 110 years since Cub Scouting began in 1916, there was only one way to celebrate – with a giant birthday party!
A weekend packed with adventure
Throughout the weekend, Cubs had the chance to take on a huge range of activities, try something new and challenge themselves alongside friends from across the County.
There was adventure at every turn, with Cubs tackling mountain biking, archery, zip lining, rifle shooting, crate stacking, slacklines and tree climbing.
At The Cube, Cubs could test their nerve on the climbing activities, Jacob’s Ladder and the Leap of Faith, while the bungee trampolines, inflatables and cave bus brought even more excitement to the weekend.
Away from the adrenaline, there were plenty of opportunities to learn new skills too. Cubs got hands-on with crafts, fire lighting and bushcraft, giving everyone the chance to discover something different during their Cubboree experience.
One giant birthday party
Of course, you can’t celebrate 110 years of Cub Scouts without a birthday party.
Our outdoor stage became the heart of the celebrations, bringing everyone together for giant parties throughout the weekend. With hundreds of Cubs sharing the experience, the atmosphere across Moor House was fantastic.
Our big event marquee kept everyone fuelled throughout the weekend, while an army of volunteers worked behind the scenes across catering, activities, logistics, welfare and countless other roles to make the event possible.
The result was a weekend filled with laughter, adventure and memories – and a fitting celebration of more than a century of Cub Scouting.
