We want to ensure that everyone in the county - adults and young people - has every opportunity to take part in activities, events, training, workshops etc.
As part of defining our requirement to maintain and process personal data (specifically your name, district, role and email address) we consider all members to have opted in to county communications prior to the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation. However, we do our best to ensure that communications are appropriately targeted.
If you would like to be kept up to date with everything going on in Durham Scouts, please ensure that you follow the 'Tips and Tricks' below to ensure that you receive as much appropriate information as possible:
- Opt in to Email Groups, using the form below. That will mean that we can email you with information about all your roles and all your interests (to update your details and preferences, be sure to enter the email address to which we usually send your emails - an email address is mandatory)
- Ensure that your email address on the Compass membership system is up-to-date (ask your line manager if you're not sure how)
- Although we target emails by any and all roles you may hold, ensure that your 'Primary Role' on Compass is your main scouting role (note that if you add any new role on Compass, this becomes your new Primary role - again, ask your line manager if you're not sure how)
- 'White list' e-mails from the @durhamscouts.org.uk domain, to minimise the chances of county emails going to 'spam' or 'junk' folders (you may need to check your Internet Service Provider spam settings as well)
- Read and open appropriate e-mails - action them straight away or mark them for action
- Also check out County social media on Facebook, Twitter etc for the latest news and updates
- If you struggle to read the DurhamĀ ePost newsletter (issued every month via email) why not print out a copy (or ask someone to print you a copy) and read it at your leisure.
Of course, we respect your right to privacy and you can opt out of county emails at any time by following the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the emails that we send out.
