Trustee Board – Marketing

When: Around 8-12 meetings per year, plus occasional support as needed Open Volunteer Spots: 1

We’re looking for new Trustees to join our County team and help shape the future of Scouting. Can you support our marketing efforts?

As a Trustee, you’ll:

  • Provide strategic direction and support to the County
  • Ensure good governance, financial oversight and compliance
  • Help us grow, reach more young people, and deliver our vision
  • Bring your skills, insight and fresh thinking to the table

You don’t need Scouts experience – just a passion to make a difference.

Role Description

  • Act as a Charity Trustee, ensuring the County Scout Council operates safely, effectively, and in accordance with The Scouts’ Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR)
  • Contribute to the strategic leadership and governance of the County, supporting sustainable growth and high‑quality Scouting
  • Advise on marketing, communications, and brand strategy to raise awareness, engagement, and participation across the County, working with the County Communications team
  • Provide strategic marketing oversight and support for the County Activity Centre, helping to increase usage, income, and external visibility
  • Work collaboratively with fellow Trustees and key volunteers, taking collective responsibility for board decisions and outcomes

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience in marketing, communications, brand management, or digital engagement, preferably at a strategic or advisory level
  • Ability to contribute effectively as a charity trustee, with sound judgement, integrity, and an understanding of good governance
  • Experience of developing or advising on marketing strategies for services, facilities, or customer‑facing operations (desirable for Activity Centre support)
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to support and challenge constructively
  • Commitment to the values, safeguarding principles, and inclusive ethos of The Scouts
