I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year, and managed to take a well-earned break from scouting to enjoy precious time with family and friends.

I’m absolutely thrilled to begin my role as Lead Volunteer for Durham Scouts, following in the footsteps of Bryan, who has led our county with such dedication and passion. A huge thank you to him for everything he’s achieved!

2026 is going to be an incredible year for Scouting!

  • Squirrels turn 5
  • Beavers celebrate 40 years
  • Cubs reach an amazing 110 years

These milestones are a powerful reminder of the lasting impact Scouting has on society and our local communities. And that’s not all—we’re also launching our new National Strategy, a strategy that will act as a compass, guiding us through the complexities of the environment Scouts will encounter over the next nine years.

I’ll be out and about across the county as much as possible, so please come and say hi! I’d love to hear your ideas on how we can make Scouting even better and explore ways to strengthen and enhance our County team to support Districts, Groups, and Sections.

Let’s make 2026 a year of growth, adventure, and unforgettable experiences for every young person in Durham Scouts. Together, we can achieve amazing things!
