Our Skills for Life strategy ends at the end of 2025. HQ are now planning our future and developing our next strategy for Scouts by speaking to and gathering the views of volunteers, young people, the wider public, and decision makers.
Summit25, the National Scout Conference, was held from January 24-26, 2025, at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole. The event gathered over 700 leaders, volunteers and staff to reflect on past achievements, discuss current challenges, and plan for the future.
The event programme explored global trends and the evolving needs of young people, skills development, education, and communities towards 2035. It also aimed to collaboratively develop and begin shaping the post-2025 vision and strategic roadmap. This was done through workshop sessions, discussing the emerging trends that all our research has identified. The UK strategy for the next 5 years is due to be launched towards the end of this year.
As a County we also need to build our strategy for the next 5 years. A lot has changed in scouting and we need to ensure that we position the county be able to respond to change and provide the very best opportunities for our Young people and Adult Volunteers. To achieve this the voice of our Volunteers and Young People is vital.
To make sure that the strategy truly reflects the needs and wants of our membership we are going to be coming out to all 14 Districts. We will be running workshops where we will share the initial thoughts of the Trustee Board and get your views on what our priorities should be, where we should focus resources and what our key outcomes need to be.
