County King’s Scout Award Presentation Evening 2025

On Friday 11th April, Durham Scouts hosted their County King’s Scout Award Presentation Evening at Chester-le-Street Cricket Club, celebrating the achievements of young people from across the County who earned the prestigious award in the past year.

The event honoured the following recipients:

  • Izzy Robertson – South Tyneside Scout Network
  • Grace McKay – South Tyneside Scout Network
  • Mirian Basden – Durham City Explorers
  • Dominic Corr – South Tyneside Scout Network
  • Sarah Forster – Chester-le-Street Scout Network
  • Jessica Madden – Houghton-le-Spring Scout Network
  • Hannah Cole – DUSAGG, Durham City Scout Network and Cardiff East District
  • Hannah Weightman – Durham City Scout Network

Each recipient was presented with their King’s Scout Award certificate, badge, and County neckerchief by County Lead Volunteer, Bryan Johnson.

Around 50 guests attended the evening, including leaders and mentors chosen by the recipients — those who had played a meaningful role in supporting their Scouting journeys. It was a night of celebration, reflection, and pride, marking a successful return of this event to the County calendar.

All awardees will also take part in the National Day of Celebration and Parade at Windsor Castle, either this year or next, as part of their recognition.

Interest in the King’s Scout Award continues to grow in Durham. Two additional recipients have recently completed their awards and will be recognised at a future event. Looking ahead, the County plans to host an annual presentation evening ahead of the Windsor Parade, giving families and communities more opportunities to celebrate the dedication and achievements of our young people.
