June is going to be an action packed month for our young people and Adult Leaders. We have;

  • Adventurous activity Permit Taster Day
  • Beaver picnic and 40th Birthday
  • First ever Squirrels county event.
  • Then in July we have Cubboree.

All these on top of the camps and activities you are doing already.

Recent tragic events involving people swimming in rivers and open water remind us that even the simplest of activities can carry huge risks. Did you know that over 60% of reported accidents in Scouts occur at your normal meeting place (Scout HQ, halls, etc.) and during camps in everyday camp areas (fields, tents, general site use)? The risk assessments that we ask you produce are not just a Process thing, they are a fundamental tool to ensure that all young people and leaders have fantastic experiences in a really safe way. So please in these, glorious summer months take a little extra care with your Risk Planning. Any risk, however small it may seem has the potential to escalate to serious consequences. We owe it our young people and leaders to ensure that Scouting is Safe Scouting.

Thank you For All that You Do
