On Sunday 26th April, young people from across Durham Scouts were honoured at a prestigious celebration held at Windsor Castle, recognising their achievement of the King’s Scout Award—the highest accolade in Scouting.
The event brought together award recipients from across the UK, with Dwayne Fields in attendance to personally congratulate those who have reached this exceptional milestone. Set against the historic backdrop of the Castle’s Quadrangle, it was a truly memorable occasion for Scouts, their families and supporters.
The celebrations were made even more special by the presence of Scout Ambassadors, including British astronaut Tim Peake, who joined in recognising the achievements of these inspiring young people.
The King’s Scout Award is the highest recognition available to Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members aged 16 to 25. To earn it, participants complete a series of demanding challenges, including volunteering within their communities, undertaking an expedition in wild country, and taking part in a five-day residential experience in a new environment. Alongside this, they develop existing talents or learn new skills, while delivering projects that make a lasting impact locally.
We are incredibly proud of all our Durham recipients who have achieved this award. Their dedication, resilience and commitment embody the very best of Scouting, and they serve as an inspiration to others across the county.
