On 29 November, 1st Chopwell Scout Group marked a remarkable milestone, celebrating its 95th anniversary.

Founded in 1930, the Group has been part of the Chopwell community for almost a century, supporting generations of young people through adventure, skills development, and the values of Scouting. The anniversary celebrations brought together current members, volunteers, and former Scouts to reflect on the Group’s long and proud history.

Young people enjoyed a daytime celebration with games and cake, while an evening event welcomed back former members and leaders to share memories through photos, videos, and stories from across the decades.

As part of the celebrations, the Group has also begun developing a digital archive to preserve its history, with the aim of expanding this in the lead-up to its centenary in 2030.

1st Chopwell Scout Group is part of Blaydon & District Scouts, one of 14 districts within Durham Scouts. The 95th anniversary is a testament to the dedication of volunteers and the lasting impact of Scouting in local communities.

Congratulations to everyone involved in reaching this fantastic milestone.
