As we come to the close of another year, I want to take this opportunity to thank every one of you for the commitment, energy and care you have shown throughout 2025.
Across the county, our young people have continued to learn new skills, take on adventures, support their communities and live the values of Scouting. None of this would be possible without the dedication of our volunteers, the encouragement of families, and the support of our wider Scouting community.
At this time of year, we are reminded of the importance of togetherness, kindness and service to others — values that sit at the very heart of Scouting. I hope the festive season brings you time to rest, reflect and enjoy special moments with those closest to you.
This Christmas also marks a personal moment of transition for me. As I come to the end of my time as County Lead Volunteer, I would like to thank you for the support, trust and friendship you have shown me, and for allowing me the privilege of leading Durham Scouts. It has been an honour to serve such a dedicated and inspiring Scouting community.
As we look ahead to the New Year, I am delighted that Greg Piskosz will take on the role of County Lead Volunteer from 1 January. I wish Greg every success as he steps into the role, and I know that Durham Scouts will continue to thrive under his leadership.
Wishing you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and successful New Year.
