SUMMARY:September First Response Course
DESCRIPTION:First Response is the minimum level of First Aid training for all leaders and basic permit holders in Scouting.\n\n\nTo be able to attend\, you need to complete the online learning via your ‘My Learning page’ on the Scout system and book a place on the trainer led session (see below).\n\nThe blended learning course consists of the following:\n\nModule 10A – First Response theory\nIn order to complete this module\, you need to:\n1. Complete the 2.5-hour e-learning module on your ‘My Learning’ page: you will need to do this before the trainer led session.\n2. Complete a 2.5-hour trainer led session. This will validate module 10A on the new digital system and your Mandatory ongoing learning\n\nModule 10B – First Response practical.\nThis First Response practical will usually be less than an hour covering the practical elements of the course.\n\nIf you have completed the e-learning module\, please email Karen Gibson\, will then check that the learning has been completed and will then send you a link to book onto the trainer led session stated above. You must have confirmation that your place is booked on the course in advance – you can not turn up on the day. Bookings will be closed 2 days before each course date to ensure we have enough trainers and resources for all participants.\n\nIf you have any questions\, please contact karen.gibson@chesterlestreetscouts.org.uk (Volunteer Development Team Leader)

SUMMARY:Outdoor First Aid (Durham City)
DESCRIPTION:This qualification is designed to meet the needs of those working away from immediate assistance (more than 30 mins) in the remote and rural regions of the UK. This Outdoor First Aid qualification is externally regulated and meets the standards to appear upon the national qualifications frameworks of England and Wales\, and also meets the First Response requirements for Scouts & Guides.  This course is recognised throughout the UK and is the course of choice for experienced practitioners who use the outdoors. \nParticipants will receive an ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid\, as well as an Emergency First Aid At Work certificate. \nTopics include: \n\nroles & responsibilities\nDealing with collapse (with and without breathing)\nChoking\nBleeding\nShock\nMajor illnesses\nTorso and limb injuries\nEnvironmental effects\nHeat and cold injuries\nUsing first aid kits\nOutdoor specific scenarios\nOutdoor incident management\n\nThis qualification is designed to provide outdoor incident management skills.  Typical delivery methods are predominantly practical\, with elements occurring out of doors in outdoor clothing and on various terrains.  The course is assessed by continual observation of candidate performance. \nParticipants will need to bring their own lunch. Tea\, coffee and refreshments will be provided. This course is ran by an experienced external trainer with an extensive background in first aid in remote environments and in a Scouting context.
