DESCRIPTION:Fancied gaining an adventurous activity permit but don’t know how\, or even if you like the activity?   David Holmes – Manager of the Activity Permits Scheme\, and his team are putting on a taster day at Moorhouse.   Come along for the whole day or just drop in and have a go at an activity or get more information on the process of gaining a permit.   We will be offering :  \n\nClimbing \nThe Cube \nArchery \nShooting \nNight’s away \nHill walking\nFirst response \nWoodbadge  \n\nWe will also be running coaching sessions on some of the Moor House bespoke activities that should put leaders well on the way to being able to self-lead those activities\, and hence book them at a much reduced price. SUMMARY:Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Course
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 27/06/26 we will be delivering a Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Course at Chester le Street. We can accommodate up to 6 delegates. Ideally delegates will hold the Paddle Explore Award\, or the Discover Award with some extra experience of paddling. This is a course of training with no assessment\, but it is a prerequisite for a permit or formal instructor/leader/coach pathways with Paddle UK. Delegates can choose any craft (Closed Cockpit Kayak\, Canoe or SUP) to use on the day\, as they will be learning to rescue any craft from their chosen one. The day will run 0830-1630\, it is physically demanding. Cost will be c. £25.00 (which includes certification fees from Paddle UK).  We will also use this course to assess permits for those on the course who feel ready. \nTo book – please email: Richard.Talbot-Jones@durhamscouts.org.uk

DESCRIPTION:A First Response course (Module 10) will be run on Sunday June 28th 2026 at Castletown Scout HQ.\n\nThe course will run from 10am until 4:30 pm with a 30 minute lunch break. Refreshments will be provided but please bring a packed lunch. Please dress comfortably and adjustments will be made for participants if necessary.\n\nThere is parking near Castletown Scouts and it is located opposite S G Petch car dealership (postcode SR5 3AJ).\n\nPlaces can be booked by emailing maureen.dale@sunderlandscouts.org.uk where you can also raise any queries.
