Do You Know Someone Deserving of a Special Thank You?
Anyone (including youth members, parents/carers or other members of the public) can nominate any member of Durham Scouts for a Good Service Award. These include Scout Association HQ Good Service Awards as well as the Commissioner's Commendation.
This National Awards Booklet will tell you more, but don't worry if you don't know if the person you want to nominate meets these criteria. If you tell us who they are and what they have done, our local Commissioners or Awards Advisory Group will check for eligibility. Even if the person you nominate isn't eligible for a National Good Service Award, we can still consider them for the award of the Commissioner's Commendation, for which there is no defined criteria or minimum length of service.
Please note that:
- Good Service Awards are only considered for our members whose service somehow goes beyond that of our other volunteers and that nominations should NOT be made solely in recognition of length of service (Long Services Awards are automatically awarded).
- Good Service Awards are subject to the approval of the appropriate District Commissioner, or in some cases the County Commissioner and the National Awards Panel.
- Instead of using the on-line form below, where the applicable Good Service Award is already known, members may also prefer to provide more information using the editable PDF form from HQ (if you choose to use these forms please read the Good Service Awards Nomination Form Guidance Notes and the Support on how to write a good citation notes, and forward the completed form to the appropriate Commissioner)
