County Scout Active Support Units

There are currently six County Scout Active Support Units in the county and membership is open to everyone over the age of 18 – that includes adult leaders and commissioners, members of the Scout Network, supporters and interested people from outside scouting.

Joining a County Scout Active Support Unit gives you the chance to help deliver fantastic scouting for our young people, gives you the opportunity to socialise with like-minded people and helps you develop skills which you can take back to your own district, group or section and may even help you to develop skills and experience for a suitable career. It's ideal for those who want to support scouting in the county but who find it difficult to volunteer with our youth sections and it's also great for existing leaders who want a little more fun with fellow scouters.

Please note that membership of a County SASU brings with it a responsibility to assure the safety, safeguarding and data of our young people and fellow adult volunteers. If not already completed in another Scouting role, membership of a County SASU therefore brings with it the necessity to complete certain training within five months of joining the SASU. This consists of Module 1 ("Essential Information"), GDPR training and from September 2020, online safety and safeguarding training.
